Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) developer Eric Conner proposed a common interface for checking the status of tokenised stocks and real-world assets.
Conner first called the proposal ERC-8391, but the published draft uses the name ERC-8392.
“Both produce identical bytes onchain. The correct response is opposite,” Conner wrote.
The proposed interface would show whether markets are open, closed, halted or facing price restrictions.
It would also separate normal price gaps from delayed or failed valuation updates and unavailable redemptions.
The draft does not tell applications to buy, sell, liquidate or freeze an asset, leaving those decisions to each protocol.
The proposal comes as tokenised stock activity expands, with tokenised-stock trading through Uniswap on Robinhood Chain reaching US$1 billion.
