[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Blockchain game developer Proof of Play is shutting down.
According to a recent report by Cointelegraph, Proof of Play said it failed to release a product proving that blockchain-based games can contribute to the spread of a large-scale decentralised internet. It will therefore open-source the Pilot Nation game, smart contracts, internal software development tools and a significant portion of its artwork.
The independent Pilot Nation Foundation will continue supporting the PIRATE token and operating the website. But Proof of Play points cannot be exchanged for any purpose.
Proof of Play also released the Founder Pilot NFT and artwork and intellectual property related to Pilot Nation under a CC0 licence. Shiba Story Go! was acquired by an unnamed third party and will be operated separately.
